Types of Kiteboards

Foil Boards, Twin-tip Boards and Kite Surfboards

There are many different types of kiteboards available on the market. There are three types of boards – twin-tip boards, kite surfboards, and foil boards. They are typically made of foam, fiberglass, or carbon fiber. These boards have a deck with an outline of the rider’s feet and a handle on the nose.

Twin-tip kiteboards have more of a traditional surfboard shape with two fins on the back of the board.

Kite surfboards have no fins and are designed to be used in waves or windy conditions.

Foil boards start with a traditional surfboard shape but then taper down to a thin edge which is used for riding waves or catching wind to stay afloat.

Twin-tip boards are kiteboards that have both a “kite” and “surf” mode. They are designed to be used in two different environments, hence the name twin-tip. These boards are perfect for beginners who want to get into kiting, but want to take their time before deciding what they want to do.

Kitesurfing boards: These boards are designed for riding waves and performing tricks. They have an extra deck pad and handles to make it easier to get on and off the board.

Foil Boards – Since the foil resides under the board, a design which allows the board to glide along the surface of the water at different speeds, allowing for amazing upwind ability and a very smooth ride. It’s as if the foil can ‘fly underwater’.
