Developed by George Pocock in the 1800’s, Kiteboarding involves the synergistic blend of surfing with and kiting, leveraging the power of the wind to propel oneself across the water. Call it kitesurfing, kiteboarding, whatever you want….it’s one of the most popular extreme sports!
Kiteboarding is a sport combining aspects of surfing, windsurfing, wakeboarding, and paragliding into one. The power of the wind is combined with a large controllable kite to propel the kiteboard across the water.
Freestyle, freeride, wakestyle, wave-riding, downwind, and course racing are just a few of the different forms of wakeboarding.
The ease in which you can catch and ride waves versus paddling back out to the breaks and then waiting for one is what makes this sport so appealing.
